
The members of the University High School Board of Trustees are:
Ann AndrewsAnn Andrews - Ann, who has two sons, is an officer of the Skilling and Andrews Foundation, which, because of a long-standing family interest in education, is devoted primarily to the support of schools. She has been active as both a volunteer and a board member of several community organizations, and before that taught psychology at the University of Michigan, where her late husband was a professor.
Kate Appel - Kate, a founding member, is an active volunteer with the arts and education in Indianapolis. Kate's background is in the theater arts. She previously taught theater at Park Tudor School; she has also directed plays, as well as designed costumes and sets for many productions, including several at University. Kate has served on several boards in Indianapolis, including the Indianapolis Civic Theatre, the International Violin Competition, the Eiteljorg Museum, and the Indianapolis Opera. Actively involved with the Orchard School for a number of years, she spent ten years as the major fundraiser for Orchard in Bloom, and chaired the event for two. Kate's husband Dan is CEO of Gregory and Appel Insurance, a 120-year-old family business, and they have three children. Their daughter Leslie, a 2005 graduate of University High School, now attends Denison University.
Mike Clayman, M.D. - Mike retired from Eli Lilly and Company where he served as Vice president of Lilly Research Laboratories. Though Dr. Clayman and his wife Patti now make their home in Massachusetts, he continues to remain an integral part of the University family through board activities. They have four sons: Joshua, Ben, Sam and Max.
Keith Faller - Recently retired from Wellpoint, Keith served as president and CEO of the central region SBU, which includes Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Missouri, and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Wisconsin. He was also responsible for HealthLink, a network rental and administrative services business; UNICARE, offering non-Blue-branded managed care products; and the Federal Employee Program, enterprise wide. Faller was with Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield since 1970, and has served in many leadership positions, including president and CEO of Anthem Life Insurance Company, president and CEO of Anthem Wellness Community, Union Planters Bank, the Orchard School, Kelley School of Business and the Butler Business School.
Sarah Faller - An active volunteer with health and education endeavors in Indianapolis, Sarah's career background is in human resources management. A graduate of Indiana University's Kelley School of Business and Butler University's M.B.A. program, she was an active parent volunteer at the Orchard School for over ten years, and recently co-chaired the multicultural group. Sarah has associated herself with family support programs at Riley Hospital for Children for more than fifteen years, where she and her husband Keith co-chair the Riley Children's Foundation Campaign for Riley. They have three children; their youngest is a junior at University High School, and his older sister is a 2007 graduate of University who now attends Earlham University.
Jim Floyd - Since April 2009, Jim Floyd has been the Managing Director of Icon Investment Partners LLC, a private equity firm with offices in Indianapolis, Atlanta and Milan, Italy. His previous experience includes serving as President and Managing Director of Europe and International for Aearo Technologies, the Indianapolis-based safety products company recently purchased by 3M. Jim spent five years living and working in the United Kingdom and Sweden, as well as maintaining a home in Indianapolis. He also held the position of President of the Board of Directors of The Texize Employees Federal Credit Union, was a member of The Grocery Manufacturers of America Distribution Steering Committee, and is active in various roles with the Boy Scouts of America. With his wife Shawn, Jim has two stepchildren who attend school in Boone County. His son is in the Class of 2012 at University High School.
Karen Gentleman - President of Gentleman Associates, a market research company she founded in 1988, Karen serves on the boards of Wellesley College Alumni Association and the IU Kelley School of Business Alumnae Association, as well as on the boards of Women's Fund of Central Indiana the Greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce and United Way of Central Indiana. She and husband Michael McCarty have three children. Their youngest, Julia, is a 2005 graduate of University High School and is currently at George Washington University.
Sue Anne Gilroy - Now vice president of development and executive director of the St. Vincent Foundation, Sue Anne served as University High School's director of advancement from February 2003 to September 2005, following two terms as Indiana's first female secretary of state. As director of Indianapolis Parks and Recreation, she was the first female UNIGOV director. While with University, Sue Anne built community relationships, developed financial resources, provided strategic planning leadership and served as a student mentor and educator. She now brings her considerable expertise and experience as a member of the school's board of directors. Active in the Indianapolis community as a member of the University of Indianapolis Board of Trustees, she is also honorary governor of the Richard G. Lugar Excellence in Public Service Series and an advisory board member of the Salvation Army. Her honors include a Sagamore of the Wabash from Governor Frank O'Bannon, Hero of the Taxpayer Award, IBJ Influential Woman, and Guardian of Small Business Award. Sue Anne and her husband Richard are the parents of two children. Emily, whom they lost to cancer in 1989, is the inspiration for University's annual Spirit Run. Grant, a 2003 graduate of I.U.'s Kelley School of Business, now attends medical school.
Phil Himelstein - Phil, a founding member, left an 18-year career as business lawyer in a large Los Angeles-based law firm in 1992 to become chairman of Menu Magic Foods, an Indianapolis manufacturer of institutional and nutritional food products for the health care industry. Together with Sandy Lange, Phil formed Hilan Capital in 1998 after completing the sale of their respective businesses. Phil currently manages a number of real estate/technology/investment entities and is chairman of the board of directors of Everest Biomedical, a medical device company based in St. Louis. Phil and his wife Lynne have two children. The oldest attends Emory University and their youngest, Michael, is a 2006 graduate of University High School and attends the University of Denver.
Cathy Hurst - Vice president of Millennium Foods, Inc. since 1997, some of Cathy's charitable activities include serving as a board member and president of the board of the Orchard School. She is the co-founder of the Orchard in Bloom Garden Show, a major fundraising event of the Orchard School, and has served on the board of governors of the school. Cathy previously served as president of the Children's Museum Guild and chaired the Children's Museum Haunted House.
Robert Kaspar - Managing principal of the Windsor Group, LTD, Bob began his professional career in 1981 with Ernst and Young in Indianapolis. Bob then spent twelve years in the banking and investment industry where he was responsible for strategic development, service quality and growth of trust services, personal financial counseling, and investment brokerage services. Since leaving the banking business, Bob has focused his professional career exclusively in the wealth management industry for the past twelve years. Bob recently joined the national board of directors of National Advisors Trust Company, in Overland Park, Kansas. He is chairman of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and past-president of the United Methodist Foundation of South Indiana and serves as a non-family trustee of the Lacy Family Foundation. Bob holds memberships in the Financial Planning Association, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Indiana CPA Society. He and his wife Rhonda have two children; daughter Kylie is a 2008 graduate of University High School.
Sandy Lange - Sandy is a founding trustee of University High School. He is a partner in Hilan Capital, a private equity investment partnership founded in 1998. Before Hilan, Sandy was chairman and chief executive officer of Pictorial, Inc., a leading developer of training programs and compliance software for the financial services industry. Sandy serves on corporate and community boards. He is a trustee of the ADL Charitable Trust.
Jeff Lewis - Jeff, a founding member, is an attorney with Ice Miller LLP, concentrating in tax-exempt finance and higher education law. Jeff is an active member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers and the National Association of College and University Attorneys, and serves as chair of Ice Miller's College and University Group and as the firm's primary representative to the National and Central Associations of College and University Business Officers. Jeff is a former president of the Board of Directors of Indianapolis Opera and former member and vice chair of the Indianapolis Opera Foundation. Jeff is a member of the President's Roundtable for one of his alma maters, Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary, and has served on its last strategic planning committee. Jeff and his wife, Paula, have two children: David and Kristin.
Sandy Morris - Secretary for the board of University High School since it opened in 2000, Sandy has served as committee chairman in a number of organizations, including Center Grove High School Marching Band Boosters and Center Grove Soccer Club, as well as secretary for the board of trustees of her church for a number of years. Prior to joining Hilan Capital, Sandy was employed in accounting at Menu Magic Foods. She had her husband Rick have two children.
Scott Ray -With Dow Agro Sciences (previously DowElanco) since 1992, a leading research-driven agricultural products firm, Dr. Ray has worked on numerous projects throughout the company's R&D organization and has served as the technical leader for the applied statistics and bioinformatics groups. Scott holds his degrees in electrical engineering: his Bachelor of Science from Michigan State University and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Illinois. At the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory from 1984 until 1992, Scott worked first as an engineer, then as a computational physicist, project leader and group leader on a variety of defense-related projects. He holds two patents, has written numerous technical articles and has co-authored a book. He and his wife Patty are the parents of two children; son Jim is in the class of 2010 and daughter Abby is a 2007 graduate of University High School attending Lawrence University.
Charles Young - Charlie is the CEO of Lightstream Partners, a management consulting firm that helps companies and organizations around the world accelerate their growth, profitability, reputation and market presence. Previously, Charlie was the chief marketing officer for three Fortune 500 companies: GE Healthcare, Tyco International and WellPoint, Inc. Charlie and his wife, Margaret, have one daughter, Catie, who is a member of the class of 2011 at University High School.
