At University High School, the process is as important as getting the right answer. We want students to understand how they got the answers and to analyze what the answer means.
My son was not working to potential in junior high school. Much of the curriculum bored him. Now my son is enthusiastic about his school and the curriculum. This seems to be related to the responsibility he is given for shaping his class schedule and customizing his education experience to suit his particular interests and learning style. I believe he benefits from the personal attention afforded by the favorable teacher/student ratio, and he certainly has taken advantage of opportunities to participate in athletics and theatre that he would not have had at a larger school. Most important is the feeling he has that the school staff has a genuine concern for his well-being.
