Brief Description:

In Invisible Children there are roughly 25 to 30 student members here at University High school.  Invisible Children meet every other Friday at lunch to discuss their projects and meet with other people who are involved with the program outside of school.  The mission of Invisible Children is to raise money and awareness for the young children of Uganda who were abducted and forced to work as child soldiers.  The program focuses on raising money for these children and the school that raises the most money out of a region is allowed to send a student to Uganda to visit the children of Uganda.  University High School is in the Great Lakes District and some of the other schools in this district include Park Tudor, Indiana University (IU), and University of Michigan.  There is a lot of competition, but last year around five thousand dollars were raised for Invisible Children here at University High School and there are hopes of doubling that number.  Some of the projects that Invisible Children are working on here at school include Change for Change, weekend car washes, and the annual Blaze Rave.  Change for Change is an ongoing project to gather as much change as possible to send to Uganda.  Students can donate their spare change to help provide an education for the underprivileged children of Uganda.  The weekend car washes are just another way to raise money by washing cars.  The most notorious project for raising money is the annual Blaze Rave, which is a school wide dance.  The Blaze Rave is unique because it is essentially a giant mob of students with techno music, strobe lights and crazy dance moves. All of the money raised from these projects goes to the children of Uganda. The Invisible Children have made a huge impact here in our own community at University High School.
